Dr. Tate Cockrell was raised in Aberdeen, Scotland and Laurel, Mississippi. He graduated from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas where he earned an M.A. in Religious Education, an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as a Ph. D. in Psychology and Counseling.     

Before coming to Broadmoor, he served as Director of Ministries for Dawson McAllister Association, a national youth ministry, where he co-hosted Dawson McAllister Live, a nationally syndicated live radio program reaching 500,000 people each week.  

Recently, he was Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for four years where he continues to teach classes on a regular basis. He travels throughout the United States speaking in conferences on marriage, family, grief, parenting, divorce, recovery, and men’s issues. 

He loves reading science fiction, Tae Kwondo, and traveling with his family. He is married to Wendy Posey of Ellisville, Mississippi. They have one daughter, Tatum, and twin sons, Preston and Spencer.
