I grew up in a Christian home and trusted Christ at the age of seven at the First Baptist Church of Sonora, Texas. After third grade, my family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where I graduated from High School. I had been sensing God leading me toward a career in ministry for some time and struggled greatly with that decision. As a Junior at New Mexico State University, through the influence of the Baptist Student Ministry, I recognized that God’s plan was the best plan and accepted His calling for my life. About the same time, I met my wife Janet, who also felt a very strong calling to ministry, and has been a partner, supporter, and friend in every way. Our journey has been exciting and fulfilling as we have seen God lead us, teach us, challenge us, and provide for us.

I am passionate about the church of Jesus Christ. As Christians, we are a part of a movement and a community that reflects the nature and character of Christ. I believe that the potential for the church is immeasurable, and that, as a body, we can find real fulfillment as we worship, grow, and serve together.
